Hello there!  My name is Brendan Randall, and I'm a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Burghardt lab at the University of Maryland's Department of Entomology.

I'm an entomologist exploring how biodiversity and the environment shape plant-insect interactions in agroecosystems. Specifically, what fascinates me most is how symbioses between microbes and plants can influence plants' ability to resist insect feeding and drought stress. My research aims to develop best management practices to improve the stability of crop production under climate change. What I love most about my work is its applied context, and ability to provide growers with solutions to big problems. If you are curious, please find me on Google Scholar, ORCID, or download my CV below! I am also reachable and responsive through email: brandall(at)umd(dot)edu

Outside of the field/lab, I enjoy hiking and kayaking with friends and reading a good fantasy trilogy. I also played Quadball (formerly Quidditch) where I was a wing chaser and keeper as an undergraduate and graduate student.
